Build systems that have to work.
LUCENT combines thermal, optical, RF and contextual sensing to identify targets whose signatures do not behave like ordinary objects. The Counter-Concealment team studies both vehicle-applied coatings and personal-applied creams or gels designed to confuse automated perception systems.
What you’ll do
- Develop multimodal detection and anomaly-fusion algorithms for concealed vehicles and persons.
- Design test campaigns spanning aerial thermal, optical, lidar and RF sensing.
- Quantify false-positive behavior in dense urban traffic and public-safety scenarios.
- Partner with law-enforcement users on safe operating concepts and evidentiary requirements.
- Build robust evaluation datasets while protecting sensitive countermeasure details.
Minimum qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent experience in computer vision, remote sensing, signal processing, physics or applied mathematics.
- Strong experience with multispectral sensing, probabilistic inference or sensor fusion.
- Ability to work with controlled law-enforcement and security datasets.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with thermal imaging, hyperspectral methods, lidar or RF sensing.
- Research in camouflage, adversarial perception, counter-UAS or low-observable detection.
- Background deploying models to airborne or edge-compute platforms.
Mission environment
Work alternates between secure research labs, instrumented road networks and aerial test ranges. Occasional night testing is expected.
