Build systems that have to work.
Palisade’s protection architecture is built around active management of impact energy rather than thickness alone. This role develops material stacks, interfaces and instrumented structures designed to distribute explosive and kinetic loads before local failure becomes catastrophic.
What you’ll do
- Design and characterize metamaterial and composite protection systems.
- Plan coupon, subscale and full-vehicle impulse testing.
- Correlate high-rate material models with instrumented blast and impact data.
- Work with structures, manufacturing and survivability teams on scalable production methods.
- Support failure analysis after destructive test events.
Minimum qualifications
- Advanced degree in materials science, mechanical engineering or related field.
- 7+ years in high-strain-rate materials, composites, armor, crashworthiness or structural dynamics.
- Experience with experimental mechanics and constitutive modeling.
Preferred qualifications
- Background in metamaterials, graded structures, reactive or adaptive protection.
- Experience with ballistic ranges, blast labs or heavy-vehicle survivability programs.
- Knowledge of large-scale composite manufacturing.
Mission environment
This position includes work near controlled destructive testing. Hearing protection, blast-range procedures and occasional off-shift test support are required.
Compensation & benefits
The estimated U.S. base salary range for this position is $218,000–$296,000. Actual compensation depends on experience, location, role scope and applicable differentials.
